It may be recalled that mason Mohommed Nasir, a resident of Malaibettu of Bantwal taluk was hacked to death on September 7, 2015 when he was returning home in an auto driven by Musthafa, near Panolibail. The attackers had assaulted Musthafa leaving him severely injured.

Vijeth Kumar from Manchi, Kiran Poojary from Badaga Ulipady, Anish Poojary from Tiruvail were arrested by the police in connection to this case while one more accused Abhijeeth went absconding.

However, when the three accused walked free securing a bail, Nasir’s family moved High Court seeking justice. The High Court of Karnataka scrapped the bail of the accused and ordered that the three must appear before the court on January 16.

Soon, the three appealed before the Supreme Court, which has upheld the verdict of the High Court.
