Ullal: Saroj Multi-Speciality Hospital was inaugurated by Minister for Environment, Forest and Ecology Ramanath Rai in presence of Minister for Food and Civil Supplies U T Khader, on Sunday, August 28 at Rani Abbakka Circle, Ullal.
The 100-bedded hospital comes as a great blessing to people of the region, as the new hospital set up in Ullal has state-of-the-art health care facilities.
Addressing the gathering Minister Rai lauded Hospital Managing Director and Medical Director Dr Gajanana Prabhu and said that despite being a multi-specialty hospital, what would always matter are the doctors and Dr Gajanana Prabhu will surely take the hospital to another level.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr Gajanana Prabhu said that a lot of study went in before opening the hospital in Ullal.
“We learnt that people of Ullal have to travel all the way to Mangaluru city to get good health care facilities. This hospital is in close proximity to Kerala as well and hence it can cater to health care needs of that region too,” said Dr Prabhu adding that the hospital enjoys one major benefit and that is the location.
“The hospital stands overlooking the sea. The ambience of the hospital and the location give soothing relief to people,” he said.

Earlier, Mangaluru Bishop Fr Aloysius Paul D’Souza said that care and affection must be the driving force behind the hospital and that this must be combined with right treatment and approach.

It may be recalled that a medical care centre was being run in the same premises by Syed Madani Trust and the operations was wound up by the trust for some reason. However, Dr Prabhu took the onus of offering advanced medical care to the people of the region and thus breathed life into the premises by conceptualising and bringing into existence Saroj Multi Specialty Hospital.
Ullal, which is a growing town, is located about 8-10 kms south of Mangaluru City and close to Karnataka-Kerala border. As the people of Northern Kerala depend on Karnataka for High end health care, a heavy inflow of patients ensues to Mangalore- Manipal region.
