Mangaluru: The Intelligence Department has detected satellite phone calls from the Karavali Coast and Malnad regions and it has created a severe security concern.
According to sources, satellite phone calls have been identified from four different locations in the last ten days. Phone calls were made from Natekal on the outskirts of Mangaluru, Forest areas of Chikkamagaluru between Kadur and Biruru, Yallapura, and Sirsi in Uttara Kannada, informed intelligence officials.
Unauthorised satellite phone calls have been reported several times along the Malnad and Karavali coasts in past few years. The source of these calls, however, remains unknown. There is no way of knowing who’s making these calls or why they are being made.
