Bantwal: A school annual day celebration, that was supposed to have left children in a gala state turned out to be a disappointing one after some miscreants posed impediments.
The incident took place in Saraswati Vidya Kendra a school in Kanyana, where a section opposed to staging of Yakshagana performance by the students without citing any proper reason.
On Thursday the annual day event was scheduled to be held from 10 am to 6 pm and a group of six students has prepared to stage ‘Sudarshana Vijaya’ chapter of Yakshagana from 3pm to 4 pm.
When the Yashagana began, some miscreants objected to the show and warned the school management of dire consequences if the show was not called back. When the school management did not pay heed to the demand, the miscreants stood near the school entrance and started misbehaving with the people coming to the school. Petrified by the same, women and children started running helter-skelter.
However, due to stern stand of the school management, the annual day was held and everyone returned home at 5.30 pm. While there is no proper detail available on the miscreants and the reason behind their act, there are all possibilities of the faces of the miscreants having been recorded in school CCTV cameras. The audience was seen flaying the miscreants for objecting the event which upholds tha Tuluva culture.
Soon messages were circulated on Whatsapp claiming that a gang from a particular religion was objecting with the intention of sparking communal unrest. However, the event was held smoothly and no untoward incident was reported.
