Mangaluru: Deputy Commissioner Sasikanth Senthil has announced a holiday tomorrow i.e, on Thursday, August 8, to all schools and colleges, here on Wednesday, August 7.
DC Senthil has announced holiday on the basis of the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) predicting heavy rainfall in the district in the next 24 hours.
In the notification issued by the district administration, it is mentioned that the ‘Red Alert’ has being issued till August 9.
The notification has also cautioned people to stay away from visiting beaches and river fronts. The parents have been asked to be alert to ensure their children do not go to low lying and inundated places.
All officers of district and town have been asked to to stay alert. Toll free number 1077 will be functional 24X7.
Meanwhile, the fishermen are also cautioned not to go for fishing in the sea for the next three days.
