Mangaluru: This year, Surfing Swami Foundation, with the support of Mantra Surf Club, Adventure Worx, Thunder Monkey, Firewire Surfboards, etc. is hosting the second annual “Mantra Grom Search” at the Panambur Beach, Mangaluru on Sunday, May 19.
The aim of the event is to identify and nurture talented young surfers under the aegis of the Surfing Swami Foundation. Participating in these events gives kids an idea of competitive surfing and helps them learn new things. Furthermore, it opens up many opportunities for them to participate in national events and represent India in international events.
Compared to last year’s event, this year the organisers have more participants and the kids’ skills have improved significantly. A few kids like Selva, Praveen, Subbu, etc., who won the event last year, went on to participate in the national level event at the Covelong Point Surf Festival in Tamil Nadu.
The Surfing Swami Foundation strives to introduce surfing and other water sports to more and more kids and improve the surf scene in India. The Foundation will have over 25 kids from the ages of seven through 15 coming from different Surf Clubs from Mulki, Panambur, Bengre, and Tannirbhavi.
