Select path less taken, give it your best: NewsKarnataka mentor Santhosh Goenka

Mangaluru: “If we select a less travelled path and dedicate our time and energy, we can do wonder in our life”, said Executive Director of Business India Group and mentor of `Newskarnataka.com` Santosh Goenka, on Wednesday, November 28.

He was addressing the gathering during an interaction programme organised jointly by Sandesha, a Foundation for Culture and Education and newskarnataka.com at Sandesha Hall in Bajjodi.

Goenka said, “Instead of opting a job for money, people should go with their passion and try to do maximum innovation on it. Instead of doing routine work, we need to strengthen our communication skills by approaching and interacting with people”, he said.

Informing about the recent trend of journalism, Goenka said, “Journalists and the field of journalism is not beyond ethics, but, in recent days all media highlight only violence. Though it is the result of unhealthy competition between different media houses, we have to understand that there is dire need to highlight positive news.”

Try to attain the goal with multiple ideas
Responding to a query on how to compete with the leading media if we are not ready to cover violence related news or negative news, Goenka said that the idea of approaching readers or viewers should be distinct.

`”If we are not able to get success with one idea, we should try a different idea. One idea can be destroyed, but a thousand ideas cannot be destroyed. If we try to attain the goal with multiple ideas, we can get success”, he said.

Brian Fernandes, CEO of Newskarnataka, while informing about the intention of the event said, “Student action in media is a concept and intention of the interaction is to make the students involve more in media. This interaction will be held frequently. There is also another concept named ‘Campus Connect’ through, which we encourage students to engage in writings.”
