Senior nurse Sunanda receives special achievement award

Mangaluru: Sunanda, a senior nurse in the Ayush Department of Wenlock Hospital was conferred with the special achievement award, constituted by South Canara Government Officers’ Cooperative Bank, Dongarakeri on Sunday, September 22.

The award was presented during a programme titled Sadhakara Samavesha (Achievers’ Conference) in Dongarakeri. Sunanda was conferred with this prestigious award for her achievement in state and national level sports events for government employees.

Besides sports, Sunanda also excels in handicrafts. She had participated in many state-level handicrafts exhibitions and received prizes. Sunanda prepares ‘goodu deepa’ ( basket lantern), artificial flowers and other decorative items using discarded plastic, waste paper, paper cups etc. and has set an example for others to turn waste into useable items.

Sunanda’s husband, Gangadhar is a retired army officer and her two sons, Karthik and Keerthan are engineering graduates.
