Mangaluru: Former Dakshina Kannada district deputy commissioner Sasikanth Senthil’s anti-national statements should be probed to find out whether he has connections with anti-national elements, said MLA and Dakshina Kannada district BJP president Sanjeeva Matandoor.

Addressing the reporters here on Monday, September 9, Matandoor said, “After tendering his resignation, Senthil questioned the Union Government’s decision on the abrogation of Article 370 in Jammu Kashmir, Triple Talaq and others despite them being historic decisions. Although he had done a very good job while he was serving in our district, his anti-national statements have proven that he was practicing some political ideology.”

When asked why the BJP leaders are attacking Senthil for speaking out, Matandoor clarified that all the BJP leaders admit that he was a very good officer when he was in power. “But soon after he tendered his resignation, he spoke out against the administrative system of the Union Government. Why should a civil servant possess such political ideology and how can such people serve the people if they are biased. Hence, those who love our nation cannot call him a patriotic person,” he said.

Rai should be suspended

Condemning former minister B Ramanath Rai’s statement against Prime Minister Narendra Modi, BJP spokesperson Harikrishna Bantwal asked the Congress high command to suspend him immediately. “Rai compared Modi with Pakistan’s Prime Minister Imran Khan and claimed that they both are blood relatives. Modi’s vision has been praised by the whole nation but Rai is comparing him with Imran Khan, the Prime Minister of our enemy nation. Rai’s earlier statement against senior leader Janardhan Poojary had done irreparable damage to the Congress party in the district. If the Congress wants to at least be an opposition party in our state, Rai should be suspended from the party,” he said.

MLA Dr Y Bharath Shetty, BJP leaders Kishore Rai, Sathish Prabhu, Ravishankar Mijar and others were present.
