Shiradi Ghat finally opens up for traffic

Uppinangady: Nearly six months after Shiradi Ghats were closed for repair works, the road was finally re-opened for vehicular movements on Sunday, July 15.

MP Nalin Kumar Kateel, along with Public Works Development Minister H D Revanna, Urban Development and Housing Minister U T Khader inspected the stretch and inaugurated the road.

A 26 kilometers Shiradi Ghat which connects Mangaluru- Bengaluru via Hassan, was closed in the month of January for concretising works of 13 kilometers in the Ghat. A stretch of 13 kilometers in the Ghat was concretised in 2015, remaining 13 kilometers stretch road concretising was work started from January 20, 2018.

Puttur MLA Sanjeeva Matandoor, Belthangady MLA Harish Poonja , Bantwal MLA Rajesh Naik, Zilla Panchyath President Meenakshi Shanthigodu, former minister B Ramanath Rai and others were present during the inauguration.
