Mangaluru: Dakshina Kannada MP Nalin Kumar Kateel has slammed Siddaramiah led Congress government for trying to curb the ‘Mangaluru Chalo’ bike rally of BJP Yuva Morcha organised on September 7.
MP Nalin Kumar Kateel told the reporters that state government, through the police department is directing choultry and hall owners to deny accommodation to the BJP activists who will be coming to the city in the bike rally from various parts of the state.
“Since a week, though the BJP leaders have been approaching the police department for permission, till date the police department has not given permission. We have already approached DG and Police Commissioner for the permission. But, at any cost, the BJP will hold Mangaluru Chalo. If the halls deny accommodation, BJP activists will stay in residences of each party worker in the district,” he said adding that the government will be responsible for any untoward incident that would take place during the rally.
On State minister Khader’s demand to prevent Mangaluru Chalo bike rally from reaching Mangaluru, he said that the activists are protesting within democratic framework.
“When Siddarmaiah organized Padayatra to Bellary the then BJP government had given protection to him and the rally participants. Now, it is responsibility of government to provide safety,” he said.
