Six from DK, 110 others test COVID-19 positive within 24 hours; Tally rises to 1578

Mangaluru: As many as six persons from the Dakshina Kannada district and 110 others tested positive for COVID-19 on Thursday, May 21. These 116 cases have brought the state’s tally up to 1578.

It is reported that all the six people from DK, who tested positive, recently arrived from the UAE. This takes the district’s total confirmed cases to 61.

Meanwhile, 27 people from the Udupi district tested positive for the disease. All have inter-state travel history. Of the 25 people, 23 arrived from Maharashtra, three from Telangana and one from Kerala.

The other cases have been reported from Bengaluru Urban (7), Hassan (2), Chikkaballapura (2), Davanagere (3), Mandya (15), Belagavi (9), Vijayapura (1), Shivamogga (6), Dharawad (5), Mysuru (1), Uttara Kannada (9), Ballari (11), Tumakuru (1), Gadag (2), and Hassan (11).

Almost all the new cases have inter-state travel history.

Of the 1578 cases, 41 are deaths, one is a non-COVID caused death, and 570 are discharges.
