Mangaluru: The police have taken into custody six suspects related to the two murder attempts which took place on September 24.

Imthiaz (29), was one of the victims and the attempt on his life had been made near Gantalkatte, Moodbidri and the other was Harish Shetty who suffered an attack near Suralpady mosque near Gurpur.

The suspects arrested were Dhanaraj (22), Dinesh (23), and Shashwath (23) who reside in the Surathkal neighbourhood and Shariff (24), Sifaj (26) and Arif (28), residing near Gurpur Kaikamba. The police have also commented that more people were involved in these incidents and that they are doing their best to arrest the remaining suspects.

The police have found out that Imthiaz was targeted because he was named as a murder accused in the Prashanth Poojary murder case which happened a year ago. The incident happened when he was in his hotel and the accused came in a car and tried to murder him with swords. Imthiaz, on sensing danger, ran away through the back door but he still received injuries to his hands, neck and head. He is now being treated at a private hospital.

To retaliate for this murder attempt, miscreants arrived on motorbikes near Suralpady mosque and attacked Harish with lethal weapons. He received injuries to his hand and neck and is receiving treatment at a hospital.
