Mangaluru: Welcoming the recent CBI Court verdict for further probe into Soujanya murder case, parents of the 17-year-old girl who was allegedly raped and killed in Dharmasthala on October 2012 said that they were still hopeful of getting justice.Addressing a news conference in Mangaluru on Tuesday, Kusumavathi, mother of the victim said that while sleazy probe by the police and the CBI had killed their hope for justice, the CBI court’s direction for further probe in to the case has brought a ray of hope.
Alleging that the three names of the accused that Soujanya’s family gave to the police and the CBI have still not been questioned, Kusumavathi said that the cops had arrested a mentally unstable man who has no connection to the case.
Social Activist Vishnumurthy Bhat said that when the incident occurred, the police completely botched up the case and also destroyed crucial evidences that could have nailed the accused.
Bhat demanded brain mapping or lie detection tests to be conducted on the mentally unstable person arrested in connection to the case.
“It was a pre-planned murder. The day she was found dead, it rained heavily. But her belonging like bag and books were dry,” he said adding that even the Post Mortem reports were tampered.
Saujanya’s father Chandrappa GOwda, social activists Amritha Shetty and Robert Rosario were present.
