Mangaluru: Srikar Prabhu, who is contesting as an independent candidate from Mangaluru South, is all set to surprise his opponents in a grand way with a public gathering at Central Maidan on May 10 between 4 and 6 PM. Many well wishers, supporters and prominent leaders are expected to be part of this gathering.
A former top BJP leader, Prabhu was part of most of the election victories for the party and has exceptional organising skills. A team of 1000 dedicated supporters, who are united under Srikar Prabhu Abhimani Sangha to support their leader who was unceremoniously removed from the party without considering his dedication and service, have gone out of their way to organise this massive convention to be attended by 10000 supporters.
Talking to NewsKarnataka, Srikar Prabhu who, as part of his 10 point campaign programme, released a huge balloon to publicise his election symbol – the ‘Autorikshaw’ – said, “I was taken for granted by the other candidates in the fray, as just one among the eleven. But today, the response that I have got from the people during my door to door campaign is amazing. People remember me as a person who has been there in their hour of need and has helped them in one way or the other. They have blessed me and I am sure these blessings will help me be victorious which is why my opponents are worried.”
“Today in my constituency, the support that I have received during the recently held women’s convention or during my other poll campaigns, has sent shock waves among my opponents. Now the fight is mainly between the Congress and Srikar Prabhu. It’s the first time in history that an independent candidate is gathering 10000 people for a public meeting. And I am confident that I will create history by wining this time as an independent.”
