Mangaluru: Srirama Sene of Dakshina Kannada has urged the government to permit the public celebration of Ganesh Chaturthi on Thursday August 26.
In a press release they stated that , “Due to the Covid pandemic, the government has stopped the public celebrations of the festivals but the sculptors who have already prepared the Ganesh idols, and the people who are associated with shamiana, catering, Lightings are in distress.”
“The government has allowed opening Malls, cinema halls, elections, political rallies, in the same way, public celebrations of festivals also should be allowed,” they demanded.
“The government has to respond to our demands or else on August 30 we will hold a protest at the BJP MLA’s office,” protestors warned.
State Cheif Secretary Anand Shetty Adyar, District chairman Pradeep Moodushedde and others were present.
