Mangaluru: St. Aloysius (Autonomous) College, Mangaluru celebrated the 9th International Yoga Day along with Aloysius Gonzaga Day in presence of the director of AIMIT campus Rev. Dr. Melwyn S Pinto; Incharge Principal, Mr. Charles Furtado; Dean of Student Welfare and Coordinator of Yoga Activity, Dr. Ishwar Bhat; Yoga Instructor, Ms. Neeta Shetty; Media partner, Mrs. Prathima from News Karnataka, Mangaluru, Students of NSS, NCC and YRC and other faculty members including the representatives of Decathlon, Mangaluru. The program started by seeking God’s blessings.
They florally welcomed the dignitaries and began the inaugural ceremony by lighting the lamp. The Incharge Principal Mr. Charles Furtado gave his words of wisdom on International Yoga Day stating facts on the global theme “Vasudaiva Kutumbakam” meaning “One nation, One family” followed by Rev. Dr. Melwin S Pinto inspired the students with his kind words and Mr. Arun, PED of St. Aloysius(Autonomous) College, Mangaluru proposed the Vote of Thanks.

Ms. Neeta Shetty, Yoga instructor for the day took over the session, starting by enchanting yoga prayer and guiding the students, the benifits of yoga and significance of the day. She started the session with the help of yoga student representatives and students were gracefully performing standing asanas’ such as vrikshasana, trikonasana and others, sitting asanas’ such as Badrasana, Vakrasana simultaneously stating its benifits followed by Pranamayas’ and concluded by prayer. The students participated actively, inpsired by the words of wisdom and significance of Yoga and Yoga day. The participants wished a Happy Yoga Day.
