Mangaluru: The post of Inspector General of Police (IGP) (Western Range) has reportedly been vacant for about 19 days, after the state government transferred Arun Chakravarthy, who was the IGP (Western Range) to Additional General of Police (ADGP) on January 31.
According to reports, Seemanth Kumar Singh was appointed as the IGP (Western Range). He was previously the IGP and Additional Commissioner of Police (Bengaluru East).
But on February 1, the government cancelled Seemanth Kumar’s transfer, but did not roll out a fresh notification as to who will be the new IGP (Western Range).
The reports suggest that Praveen Madhukar, IGP, Bengaluru was in the list to be transferred in place of Arun, after Seemanth Kumar’s transfer was cancelled.
However, on Wednesday, February 19, Arun handed over power as IGP (Western Range) to Dakshina Kannada Superintendent of Police Lakshmi Prasad and left for Bengaluru to assume the position of ADGP.
