Puttur: A startling video of an assault by a student leader on two students has gone viral on the social media. In the video, claimed to be filmed six months ago, a student leader of a college is seen verbally abusing and slapping students on two separate occasions.
The district superintendent of police who took cognizance of the matter passed instructions to the police personnel to initiate action. It is reported that a youngster, Ajay Shetty from Kallimar here, was taken into custody by the police. Ajay had recently completed his studies, sources said.
The incidents are believed to have taken place in December last year. Ajay, who was a student of the college is seen thrashing the students in the video. On one occasion, he beats up an unidentified student for smoking whereas other student is thrashed for having a romantic relationship while at college, the video shows.
The police said that the identity of the students is yet to ascertained as Ajay Shetty has been uncooperative. The police have launched a detailed investigation regarding the incident, sources said.
