Mangaluru: Exhibiting confidence of emerging victorious in the state assembly elections with a majority Sudesh Verma, National Spokesperson of Bharatiya Janata Party said that the underlying wave in the country was in favour of the BJP.

Addressing a press meet at BJP office here on April 25 he said, “BJP will witness a landslide victory in the state similar to the ones in Tripura and other states in the country. People are supporting BJP across the country due to the developmental initiatives taken by Narendra Modi through the ideology of “Sabka Saath Sabka Vikas.”

“Under the Pradhan Mantri Krishi Sinchayee Yojana (PMKSY), the union government has extended irrigation facilities to 10.11 lakh hectares of land. Under the “Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana” (PMFBY), 31.16 lakh Karnataka farmers have benefited. Modi’s government has issued 93.24 lakh soil health cards in Karnataka. About 95000 beneficiaries have been employed under the skill development project. Nearly 1.27 crore people have benefited through MUDRA scheme, most beneficiaries being women in the state”, he said.

“In all, 1.16 crore Jan Dan accounts have been opened in Karnataka. Under Ujwal Yojana 9.33 lakhs people in Karnataka have benefited”, he claimed. He also said that under the Narendra Modi government in the centre, a silent revolution has taken place which is translating into support for BJP.

“In Karnataka, upgradation of 6233 kilometers of state highways into national highways has been undertaken, out of which work on 1854 kilometers has been completed. In terms of vision, irrespective of which party comes to power, we expect the government to deliver as per the vision of the Prime Minister Narendra Modiji thereby ushering in the development. The new government in Karnataka under the leadership of Yeddyurappa will witness development revolution”, he said.

He alleged that coastal Karnataka had become a killing field of RSS, VHP and BJP workers. “Congress government has failed to apprehend the culprits. Jihadist activism has grown in this region which is igniting the communal atmosphere. Any government that comes to power should not discriminate between Hindus and Muslims. Criminals should be put behind the bars but this is not happening. Congress government is appeasing the minority,” he added.

Karnataka State BJP spokesperson Anwar Manipady said despite several crores released to Karnataka government under various schemes the state had not utilised it. “Karnataka government has failed to send utilisation certificate to the central government. A Rs 1000 Crore release by union government for the development of minorities under Abdul Kalam Azad scheme has not reached the common Muslim”, he added.

He also alleged that by creating communal riots, the Congress would benefit.
