Sullia: Congress’ Dr. Raghu files nomination for fourth time

Sullia: Dr. B Raghu, the Congress candidate for Sullia Constituency, filed his nomination papers to Returning Officer B T Manjunath on April 19.

This is the fourth time that Dr. Raghu is contesting as the Congress candidate. Before this, he has contested the 2004, 2008, and 2013 elections from the Sullia Constituency, reserved for Scheduled Castes.

Dr. Raghu proceeded towards the Sullia Mini Soudha from the Congress Election Office in Srirampete in a ‘padayathra’ along with hundreds of his supporters and filed his nomination papers at 11:45 PM. On the way, he also addressed the party workers at the Town Hall at 11:30 AM.

KPCC Secretary Savitha Ramesh, Sullia Block Congress President Jayaprakash Rai, Kadaba Block Congress President Diwakar Gowda, and P S Gangadhar accompanied him.

Earlier in the day, Dr. Raghu had also offered prayers for victory in the elections at the prominent religious centres around Sullia. He visited Sri Chennakeshava Temple, Sri Ram Bhajana Mandira, Sri Kalkuda Daivasthana, St. Brigids Church and Dargah in Mogarpane.
