Mangaluru: The state government has appointed Suresh Ballal as the Chairman of Mangaluru Urban Development Authority (MUDA), in its order dated December 1.
Suresh Ballal, a veteran congress leader, who headed MUDA earlier, is likely to assume charge on Monday, December 5.
Ballal will replace Ibrahim Kodijal after the latter’s stint in office. Kodijal too was in the reckoning for the second term for the post along with few other Congressmen including Santhosh Kumar Shetty and Sadashiva Ullal.
Congressmen from the coastal region wanted the state government to give some prominent position to Ballal considering his past. Accordingly they had repeatedly requested the state congress chief and working president during their frequent visits to the city in the recent past.
