Techie couple donates 500 kg rice to MCC amid COVID-19 lockdown

Mangaluru: A couple working in the IT sector, on Monday, March 30 donated 500 kgs of rice to the Mangaluru City Corporation (MCC) to help those who are adversely affected by the lockdown in the Dakshina Kannada district.

Hemachandra Kavoor, who has been working at Lenovo in Bengaluru, and Uma Hemachandra, an employee of NMPT are the couple who donated the rice.

Speaking about why they donated the rice, Hemachandra explained that it is everyone’s duty to extend help to the needy. “As those who are financially challenged are finding it very difficult to lead their lives now, everyone should help them,” he stressed.

Mayor Divakar Pandeshwar, Commissioner Shanady Ajith Kumar Hegde, former mayors Shashidhar Hegde, Bhaskar K and corporators were present.
