Mangaluru: The Rotary Club of Mangaluru Downtown presented Binoy D’Costa, a youth hailing from Mannagudda, a beautiful cart so that he can sell his samosas hassle-free. Daily he had been selling Samosas on a bicycle standing opposite to Urwa Market from 8 am till he exhausts all his supplies. The cart was handed over to him by the club District Governor Rtn Ranganath Bhat on January 26 during his official visit to the Club.

Binoy D’Costa had been selling samosas since the beginning of the pandemic at a very affordable price. With the profit that he makes, he feeds the poorest of the poor on Sundays early in the morning, entirely free of cost. “I took it as part of my mission to help and serve the needy in whichever way I could,” says Binoy.

He expressed his happiness in receiving such a gift from the club. “The Rotary club had talked to me and asked me what kind of design I wanted for the cart, “he said.

“Now I am really glad that there is a roof above me and I no longer have to worry about hygiene and storage problems. The extra space also gives me an opportunity to sell a lot of variety of foods,” he added.

The Rotary Club of Mangalore Downtown spoke of how they came about with the idea for the cart. “One of our members saw that during the rainy season he was holding an umbrella and selling the samosas of the cycle. Seeing that he is doing this for the right seasons, we wanted to help him, “said EKanath Dandekery P., Assistant Governor of the district.

“We really commend him on how he serves the needy people in the Nehru Maidan on Sundays with his profit and we wanted to do something to encourage him and express our gratitude,” he added.
