The drains overflowing during the rainy season is a problem common in most of the wards and Kadri South is no diffferent.
When the people of the ward brought their greivance to the notice of first time corporator Kadri Manohar Shetty and when the civic workers refused to get into the manhole to clear the block, Shetty did something that nobody ever imagined.
Without even a second thought, Shetty entered the manhole and cleared the blockage that has been caused by careless people dumping plastic waste into the drains.
The images of Shetty went viral on social media and the netizens could not stop praising the corporator for being a pleasant change.
When contacted, Shetty told newskarnataka.com that it was his responsibility to respond to the grievances of the public and he has only done his job.
“I was not alone. When I decided to clear the block myself, many came forward to help me. Later, civic workers also came to assist us. As it was the problem of my ward, I took the onus of solving it myself, without waiting for anyone. We must all remember that the change begin when we make a start,” he said.
