Mangaluru: Condemning the incident of gang rape on a woman at Thota Bengre beach, the Dalit leaders urged the government to provide a government job and a compensation of Rs 25 Lakh to the victim, on Saturday, December 1.
Addressing the reporters, Dalit leader Raghuveer Sootarpete said that the incident is a black dot to the image of Mangaluru. The police department should take this incident seriously and gather all the evidence to ensure culprits would not escape from the clutches of the law. Police should not buckle under any sort of pressure while investigating the case, he said.
Meanwhile, Raghuveer also asked the police department to provide proper security to the victim’s family members citing that there could be a threat to the victim’s family members from the culprits’ side.
Dalit leaders S P Anand, Ashok Konchadi, Anil Kankanady and Chandrakumar Urwastore among others were present.
