Mangaluru: Three Congress leaders, including senior politician and All India Catholic Union state secretary Deepak Attavar, joined the BJP party at the district BJP office on Sunday, November 3.
Mangaluru South MLA Vedavyas Kamath welcomed the leaders after handing over the party’s flag to them. The other two individuals who joined the BJP are Sidney Fernandes and Naveen Vas.
After joining BJP, Deepak Attavar revealed the reason for quitting the Congress party. “Despite the fact that I have work hard for Congress party since the past 25 years, the party has not identified my sacrifice and service. Though 99 percent voters from Christian community support Congress party, it has neglected the welfare of the Christian community. Hence, we informed our decision to MLA Vedavyas Kamath and joined BJP,” he said.
BJP leaders Ravishankar Mijar, Bhaskarchandra Shetty, Nithin Kumar, and others were present.
