Mangaluru: To ensure a smooth counting process for the Karnataka Assembly elections, the Election Commission (EC) has deployed three-tiered security arrangements for the counting process at the counting center at Mahatma Gandhi Centenary Higher Primary School and Mahatma Gandhi Centenary Composite Pre University College, Bondel in Mangaluru.
Addressing a press meet on Monday, May 14, Deputy Commissioner Sasikanth Senthil said, “Election commission has made three-tiered cordon security arrangements for the smooth process of counting. The inner cordon will be guarded by CRPF personnel. The middle cordon will be guarded by the Karnataka State Reserve Police. The outer cordon will be guarded by the city police force. There will be frisking process in these cordons.”
“Carrying electronic gadgets to the counting center has been strictly prohibited,” DC said.
DC also told that the EC has received 60 percent of the postal ballot votes applications and the postal ballot voters can submit their vote before 8 am on May 15.
The DC also informed that prohibitory orders under section 144 will be clamped from Monday night 12 am to Wednesday night 8 pm. Victory processions and celebrations are prohibited when prohibitory orders are in operation and strict action will be taken against the violators, he added.
