Mulky: A gala plan of having a refreshing swim in swollen river Shambavi turned tragic for three youth, on Sunday, July 9.
It is said that seven friends went together to Mattu area of Mulky with a plan to swim in the river. The group ventured into the roaring river, but unfortunately three youth landed in watery grave.
Kishore, Mahesh and Akshath are the dead youth.
It is said that Mahesh, a resident of Mulky working in Mangalore had got his friends to Mattu and the group ventured into water.
When they came in hold of strong currents, some swam across to safety. Three from the group were battling for life when Mahesh plunged into the river and rescued one. His bid to rescue other two cost him his own life. The dead bodies have been shifted to government hospital in Mulky.
