Mangaluru: Karnataka State Tipu Sultan Abhimanigala Vedike (R) has disbursed hundreds of grocery kits to the poor and daily wagers who have been hit hard by the lockdown.
As many have been left without a job during the lockdown, the Vedike has disbursed grocery kits with the help of donors.
Meanwhile, it has helped a cancer patient from the city with Rs 30,000 to meet his medical expenses and has also provided grocery items worth Rs 4,000.
Despite this being Ramzan, several families are finding it very difficult to observe their fast. Hence, the Vedike has been disbursing fruits and vegetables to such families.
Vedike president Shafi Babbukatte says that the grocery kits have been disbursed to the needy irrespective of cast and religion. “We have been doing this social service with the help of donors. Vedike vice-president Muneer Asaigoli and others also joined us,” he said.
