Touts who swindled crores of rupees from medical seat aspirants land in police net

Mangaluru: Two persons who had swindled huge amount from gullible people promising them medical seats have been arrested by the Ullal police.

Speaking about the same, Mangaluru City Police Commissioner Chandrashekar said that Sanjeeva (34) from Erode in Tamil Nadu and Thimmaiah (45) from Madikeri are the arrested persons. The two had taken about Rs 25 from as many as 16 medical aspirants from Tamil Nadu.

When the two did not provide the promised seats, parents of some students contacted the Colleges in Deralakatte, where their children were supposed to get seats. The college administration informed that the admission tests were already over.

Based on the complaint, Ullal police inspector Shivaprasad and personnel arrested the duo and seized Rs 37.5 lac.It is presently estimated that the duo duped to the tune of Rs 2.82 crores.” said commissioner adding that the colleges must display an awareness notice in their colleges so that people are not cheated by such offenders.

DCPs Sanjeev Patil and Shantharaju were present at the press meet.
