Mangaluru: Tragedy struck at Malpe beach when two teenage girls from Madikeri were swept away by the sea. One of the girls, identified as Manya (16), lost her life during the incident, while the other, Yashaswini (16), is currently receiving medical treatment at Adarsh Hospital in Udupi. They had gone missing from Madikeri three days prior to the incident.
The unfortunate incident occurred when a man, who had come to Malpe for a walk, also got into the water at the beach. Quick action by a team of divers, including Ishwar Malpe, saved the two girls and rushed them to a hospital. Despite the efforts, Manya couldn’t survive the journey to the hospital. Yashaswini continues to undergo treatment, as the authorities investigate the circumstances surrounding the tragic incident.
