Blast at Fireworks Storage Facility Claims Three Lives in Dakshina Kannada

Belthangady: A devastating blast at a fireworks storage facility in the Belthangady taluk of Dakshina Kannada district resulted in the tragic loss of three lives. The victims were identified as Swamy (55), Varghese (68) from Kerala, and Chethan (25) from Hassan district.

The explosion occurred at the Solid Fireworks warehouse in Katyaru, Kukkedi village, Belthangady, during the evening on a Sunday. Among the nine laborers present at the facility, three lost their lives, and six others sustained injuries. The injured individuals, namely Dinesh, Kiran, Kumara, Kallesha, Prem, and Keshava, were rushed to medical facilities for treatment.

The impact of the blast extended up to 4 kilometers, causing severe damage to nearby houses. The police, led by Dakshina Kannada Superintendent CB Ryshyanth, visited the site to gather information. The explosion led to the dispersal of body parts, and authorities are actively investigating the incident. Several individuals have been taken into custody for questioning in connection with the blast.
