Mangaluru: Dakshina Kannada Principal District and Sessions Judge K.S. Bilagi on Monday urged women inmates at the district prison to transform themselves into productive members of the society after being released from prison.
He was speaking at the valedictory programme of the legal awareness campaign, yoga training, and skill development programme organized by the District Legal Service Authority, Bar Association, and Police Department under the aegis of various government departments and NGO at Mangalore District Prison here on Monday, June 2.
Judge K.S. Bilagi also advised the inmates to actively involve themselves in various skill development programmes, instead of spiralling into the trap of depression. He said this would bring a creative transformation in their life.
Speaking on the occasion, Women and Child Welfare Deputy Director Sundar Poojary informed that after obtaining permission from the jail authorities, he would depute one Anganwadi worker, on daily basis, to train the children living inside the prison.
At present, there are nine women inmates with three children at the Mangaluru District Prison.
Deputy Commissioner Police Hanumantharaya, Assitant Commissioner Renuka Prasad, DHO Ramakrishna and others were present during the programme.
