Mangaluru: A delegation lead by A C Bhandary, President of Karnataka Tulu Sahitya Academy, met Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy at his office on Thursday, June 6 evening and requested him to add Tulu as an optional subject in the Pre University College syllabus. Dakshina Kannada District In-charge Minister U T Khader had arranged for the meeting with the chief minister.
It has been brought to the chief minister’s notice that Tulu has already been added in high school, degree and post graduation syllabus except PUC. The delegation has requested HDK to add Tulu as optional subject in PUC syllabus before the beginning of the next academic year.
Kumaraswamy who immediately responded to the request of the delegation, discussed the matter with the top officials of Pre-university Board and asked them to take necessary action. He also assured that he would take a decision in this matter, very soon.
A C Bhandary also requested Kumaraswamy to sanction the Rs 3.6 Crore needed to complete the construction of the academy’s ‘Tulu Bhavana’, during the meeting to which the CM nodded.
District in-charge minister U T Khader, MLC Harish Kumar, former minister Gangadhar Gowda, former legislator Vasanth Bangera, members of the academy, Taranath Gatti Kapikad and Bennett Ammans were present in the meeting.
The academy also discussed the matter with State Kannada and Culture Minister D K Shivakumar.
