Mangaluru: Tulu blockbuster ‘Chaali Polilu’ which completed 511 days in the city commemorated the milestone with a celebration at Townhall on April 12.
The cast and crew of the movie were honoured on the occasion.
Litterateur and former vice-chancellor of KSOU Dr Vivek Rai who inaugurated the programme addressed the gathering. He congratulated the team of Chali Polilu and urged all Tuluvas to watch Tulu movies, support and encourage the Tulu film industry.
Health Minister U T Khader said that to become tension-free, the public need to watch Tulu dramas and movies.
“With the influence of modern language, there is fear that Tulu language might vanish. But thanks to Tulu artists, specially Devdas Kapikad and producer Prakash Pandeshwar who have made such a great movie like Chali Polilu. Watching a Tulu movie is the best medicine for good health,” he said.
Actor Devdas Kaapikad said that the public has supported Tulu movies as much as they did for theatre and plays.
“So many movies come in a year with some being successful and some not. Let’s not get disappointed by failures and go ahead with confidence,” he said.
Dr Hansaraj Alva launched the audio of upcoming Tulu movie ‘Dabak Dabaa Aisa’.
‘Dabak Dabaa Aisa’ is the second movie from Jayakirana Films with Chali Polilu being the first.
Jaganath Shetty Bala was felicitated at the occasion.
MD of Rohan Corporation, Rohan Monteiro, T A Shrinivas, Pradeep Kumar Kalkura, and others were present.
