Mangaluru: The Anti Rowdy Squad arrested two persons in connection with snatching chains and seized a scooter and gold ornaments worth a total of Rs 3.74 Lakh from their possession on Monday, December 10. The arrested have been identified as Hareesh S Nath (45), a resident of Jeppu Bappal and Rajesh (45), a resident of Bajal, Kankanady.
According to the police sources, with the arrest of these two, a total of seven chain snatching and extortion cases registered at Urwa, Barke, Kadri, Kavoor and Mangaluru South police station are solved now. The accused used to target women walking alone on road.
Following frequent incidents of chain snatching cases, the sleuths of Anti Rowdy Squad formed a special team headed by Inspector Raveesh S Nayak and succeeded in nabbing the accused. The accused would be produced before the Court, police sources said.
