Two cops injured by fugitive driver

Mangaluru: A speeding car rammed into police personnel in the city on Saturday, August 25.

Mohammed Kunhi (18), a resident of Kasargod, and a young girl have been arrested by the Kadri Police.

The driver of the speeding car that was plying from Kasargod to Mangaluru was told by the police to stop at Pumpwell, but the former ignored this order.

Later, the police gave chase and tried to stop the car near Jyoti, PVS Circle and Lalbagh in vain. Using different roads, the car reached Kadri and hit two policemen who were on duty.

After ramming into the policemen, the driver tried to escape but, failed to do so as the car could not pass through the narrow road.

Gajendra and Narappa are the injured policemen. Gajendra was severely injured in the incident and was taken to a hospital. Narappa suffered minor injuries.
