Mangaluru: Panambur police arrested two persons involved in the murderous assault on Panambur ASI Puranadar Gowda here on July 21 in an attempt to evade an arrest.
The duo, Harris alias Chandu Harris (26) and Mohiuddin Adil (20) who have several cases registered against them were arrested from Surathkal here on Friday, July 21 night.
It may be recalled that Harris, a history sheeter had earlier in the day tried to mow down ASI Gowda with his car to evade an arrest. The inspector however miraculously escaped with few injuries. Meanwhile Harris fled the scene along with three of his aides.
Following the incident, the police who were conducting inspection checks at Panambur spotted the accused while they were travelling on a bike towards Surathkal from here. Though the duo tried to speed away, the Panambur police managed to nab them.
The police also confiscated the vehicle used for the assault apart from seven other stolen two-wheelers.
Meanwhile a non-bailable warrant has been issued against them since they had not appeared for court hearings having gotten bail in an earlier case.
