Mangaluru: Two employees of the Tulu Academy, who had been suspended from their jobs, have been allowed to continue their work after a meeting on Saturday, May 16.
Tulu Academy librarian Chithrakshi, who has been working here for the past two years and assistant librarian Prashanth, who has been working here for the past eight years, were allegedly suspended from the job for not reporting for duty during the lockdown.
Chithrakshi’s house is located in Kuttar and she had to travel 17 kms to her workplace. Prashanth, on the other hand, lives in Puttur. The two were unable to report for duty as the Academy had not given passes to its staff.
The two reported for duty on May 12 after the lockdown was relaxed. Though they were allowed to work on May 12, Academy president Dayanand Kattalsar had asked them not to report for duty from May 13 onwards.
Condemning this incident, Tulu Parishath president Tharanath Gatti Kapikad and others approached Deputy Commissioner Sindhu B Rupesh to intervene and give justice to the two employees.
Meanwhile, a meeting was convened on Saturday and both were allowed to continue working, sources informed.
