Mangaluru: State Minister for Food and Civil Supplies U T Khader has insisted BJP to cancel the bike rally “Mangaluru Chalo” organised by the party’s Yuva Morcha on September 7.

Khader said if the BJP had concern for the district and if it respected harmony and brotherhood, it must withdraw the rally.

“The district has just retained normalcy after several untoward incidents. Even in the past, after such rallies several untoward incidents were reported in the district. In democracy, everyone can agitations and express their ideologies. But why the bike rally? And that too in Mangaluru? With people travelling such long distances on bikes from various parts of state, who will be responsible if any accidents take place? And this will be black mark for the district”, he added.
