Mangaluru: Udupi Deputy Commissioner G Jagadeesh, head of the magisterial inquiry into the December 19, 2019 police firing that took place in Mangaluru, has submitted his final report in this regard to the state Home Department.

The Udupi DC submitted the over 50-page report, which includes 2,500 supporting documents, to the Additional Chief Secretary of the Home Department.

It can be recalled that on December 19, 2019, the police had resorted to firing after anti-CAA protests in Mangaluru city turned violent. Two persons, Nausheen and Jaleel lost their lives during the police firing, which caused an uproar in the city.

Soon after the incident, Udupi Deputy Commissioner G Jagadeesh was made head of the magisterial inquiry, but owing to the Covid-19 pandemic and the lockdown to curb the spread of the disease, the inquiry was delayed.
