Mangaluru: Finally, the State Election Commission, on Saturday, October 20, announced that the election for 14 Urban Local Bodies (ULBs), including Mangaluru City Corporation (MCC), will be held on November 12.
Under-secretary of State Election Commission, Karnataka, Nagaraju NR, in a press release, informed that the model code of conduct will come into effect from October 20 till November 14 in all the jurisdictions of the ULBs.
As per the press release, the last date for filing nominations will be October 31 and the scrutiny of the nominations will be held on November 2. November 4 is the last date to withdraw nominations. The election will be held on November 12 between 7 AM and 5 PM. If re-elections are necessitated, they will be conducted on November 13. The counting of the election will be held on November 14 from 8 AM onwards.
The press release also stated that a candidate’s election expenditure should not exceed Rs 3 lakhs.
Advertisement boards should be removed immediately
As the election date has been announced and the model code of conduct has been enforced from October 20 itself, MCC Commissioner Shanady Ajith Kumar Hegde asked all political parties and elected representatives to remove the advertisement boards installed in the MCC limits immediately.
