Mangaluru: The City Crime Branch (CCB) police have arrested three accused in connection to the violence which occurred in Ullal.
Addressing a press meet at his office here, police commissioner Chandra Sekhar said that the arrested are Rahul Poojary, (22) a fisherman from Mogaveeraptana, Prajwal (21), a rickshaw driver from Yeliyarpadavu and Vineeth (22), a fabrication worker from Kapikad.
He further added that Rahul Poojary is the main accused in four incidents. He was earlier involved in five other cases in which three cases were murder attempt registered at Ullal police station and one each at Mangaluru North and Mangaluru South police stations. Whereas Prajwal is involved in murder attempt cases registered at Ullal and Mangaluru South police stations. Prajwal and Vineeth were involved in the murder attempt of Safwan Hasan on 26th April. Already five accused have been arrested in connection with the recent Ullal violence cases.
The Commissioner stressed on the fact that Rahul was involved in two of the cases while his involvement in the other two is still being looked into. Currently he is being interrogated for the same.
It may be recalled that on Monday, Ibrahim Naswan from Ullal was attacked by a group of miscreants while he was on his way to fishing port. One of the persons involved in the case, Shivaraj alias Shiva was arrested earlier.
Hours after attack on Hassan, a group attacked catering workers Safwan, Saleem and Nizam. On Tuesday another youth Safwan from Kallapu was attacked who later on succumbed to injuries.
CCB Inspector Valentione D’Souza, PSI Shyam Sundar and team were involved in the operation.
