Mangaluru: Ilyas, leader of Ullal’s notorious target group and the vice-president of Youth Congress, Mangaluru has been murdered in broad daylight near Jeppu, here on January 13.
Ilyas(32) is said to be a close aide of Pinky Nawaz, who is behind bars in Deepak Rao murder case.
DCP Hanumantharaya confirmed the murder and stated that the murder took place at around 9 am. He was stabbed with sharp weapons in the chest by two suspects inside Miftah Galore apartment. He was declared dead at Father Mullers Hospital. Police have suspected the involvement of opposite gang members.
Illyas was reportedly out on bail two days ago in a particular case. Soon after murder of Deepak Rao, a youth from Katipalla, pictures of Illyas with top congress leaders including Minister U T Khader had gone viral, but Khader had cleared the air in a press meet stating that he has no connections with Illyas and several others affiliated to Target Group.
