Mangaluru: The ‘Walkathon for a Drug-Free Future’ event, conducted by the Mangaluru Police Commissionerate on Wednesday, employed a unique approach to raise awareness. District in-charge minister Dinesh Gundu Rao inaugurated the walkathon.
Students from different city colleges, carrying placards illustrating the challenges posed by drug addiction, participated in a brisk walk. The ‘Walkathon for a Drug-Free Future’ organized by the Mangaluru Police Commissionerate employed a unique approach to raise awareness about the issue of drug addiction.
Certain students chose to wear skull-like masks as a visual representation of the terrifying impact of drugs on life. Message boards carried by students from various colleges emphasized the harmful consequences of the drug menace. Additionally, some students distributed informational pamphlets.
The walkathon garnered the participation of over 4,000 students hailing from more than 120 educational institutions. The event commenced at Town Hall and traversed through Hampanakatte, KS Rao Road, Navabharatha Circle, PVS, Lalbagh, Lady Hill, Narayana Guru Circle, concluding at Mangala Stadium.
