Mangaluru: Days after MLA SA Ramdas leveled an allegation of Rs 150-crore scam in the Indira Canteen project, State Minister for Urban Development UT Khader said that allegations were politically motivated and made with lack of information on the project.
Addressing a press meet at circuit house here on Monday, July 16, Khader questioned as to how an elected representative can make such an irresponsible statement.
“A total of 263 Indira canteens were sanctioned to all district and taluk quarters in the state. Already 136 Indira Canteens are functioning. About 171 canteens are with kitchen, 71 canteens are without kitchens and 15 canteens are Independent kitchens. The total project cost is Rs 211.24 crores. In Bengaluru, in the limits of BBMP 198 Indira Cantens have sanctioned out of which 174 canteens are without a kitchen, 24 mobile canteens, 12 canteens are independent canteens. The total cost of the canteen is Rs 77.14 crores. The construction work of 37 canteens are under progress and the work of 70 Indira canteens are yet to begin. This work will be completed within three months,” he added.
Maulana Azad English Medium Schools
Khader also informed that the state government has sanctioned two Maulana Azad government English Medium Schools from class 6th to 10th to Mangaluru constituency. The schools will come up at Farangipete and Kallapu from this academic year.
Shiradi Ghat
