Mangaluru: Hindu activist and BJP leader Satyajit Surathkal finally broke his silence over the posts circulating on the social media. He had remained neutral after he was denied the party ticket form Mangaluru North Constituency.

A visibly upset Satyajit Surthkal alleged that a few vested interests were spreading defamatory lies and rumours on the social media to politically sideline him.

Addressing a press meet here on May 9, Satyajit narrated his life story as a long-time Sangh Parivar activist, including the struggle for Ayodhya Ram Temple and Hubli’s Idgah Maidan. “At the age of 11, I joined the RSS. Since then, I have worked as a sincere activist of Sangh (RSS), without any wrongdoing. Even my entire family is actively involved in Sagha Parivar activities. I have dedicated my entire life for the cause of Hindutva, with sincerity and dedication,” he said.

Giving details about the posts on the social media, Satyajit said, “Recently a few people are spreading a false propaganda against me. They say I have received commission from MRPL, SEZ and Surthkal Toll contractors; that I am involved with the sand mafia. I am ready to take a truth test at any of the sacred places about the allegation made. I challenge those who accuse me of taking commission through social media to come forward for truth test at any sacred religious centre.”

“False accusation against me are the efforts to tarnish my reputation and politically sideline me,” he alleged.

Satyajit also made it clear that his wealth was only a five cents land and a house constructed after borrowing loan from a bank. He said Rs 57 Lakh of the loan is outstanding. “If I have taken money or commission from anyone, I could have settled my bank loan,” he said.

He also stated that the he was not hurt as much for being denied party ticket as for spreading lies against him.

“I manage my expenses and run family from the income of a cable business in Surthkal,” he said.

“Though I couldn’t do justice to family members, I am committed to ensure justice to the society,” he added.

On his future political career, Satyajith said that he would act after completion of the elections in the state.
