Mangaluru/Madikeri: While forwards on Social media are supposed to be useful they are a nuisance, at times owing to the fact that people, most often forward messages received by them blindly without bothering to check its veracity.
In a similar instance, a picture of a four-and-half-year-old girl from Mangaluru, which claims her to be missing has been circulating on the social media since Sunday, the day the family had gone for a picnic outing to Abbey falls at Madikeri.
In reality, the girl had accidentally been left behind by the family while on their way back to Mangaluru. Since a total of six children were travelling in the car, the family assuming that this girl was seated in the back had travelled some distance before realizing their folly.
They immediately returned back and managed to trace the girl with the help of the Madikeri police. However, by then messages of a girl found missing at the falls with an audio appeal to trace her family had started to circulate on Whatsapp
