Kasargod: It is rumoured that a ganja peddling gang could be behind the death of Jasheer, the 15-year-old boy who went missing on March 1.
Of late, ganja peddlers are active in the area, the local residents complain. Many local youth are addicted to ganja. Children are roped in to market and supply ganja, they add.
Recently, Jasheer was caught smoking ganja by one of his relatives. The relative had also informed the boy’s family about the incident. So, his family and neighbours suspect that Jaseer may have been murdered by the ganja peddlers to take revenge.
Jasheer was the son of Jaffer from Mangad. On March 1, he had left home, accompanied by three of his friends, to buy new clothes for the farewell function organised at his school. Although the three friends returned, Jasheer went missing. The police had interrogated the trio the very next day in order to trace the boy. However, they failed.
Four days later, on March 5, dead body of the boy was found, partially decomposed, in a drain near the railway track at Uduma Kalnad. His family and neighbours suspect that Jasheer may have been murdered by the ganja peddling gang to seek revenge.
People are divided as to the cause of death–some believe it is a murder, while, others say it is a death due to hitting a moving train. Police investigations are still going on.
